Leadership

Overview 

  • The Leadership team is made up of 15 young people selected through an application process and includes young people in school years 8 and above (13 years old and above). 
  • This team is led by Thomas Bursnoll, our apprentice practitioner for the year. 
  • The team is split into 6 departments, and all members help in all performances and connecting events in the community, our associate schools and theatre partners.

  • There are two/three members on each team in charge of their department. throughout the year in all productions. For example, the lighting and sound teams will run all the lights and sound in our performances at Silhouette. 
  • This means that all our performances in Silhouette are completely run by our young people.

My name is Alpher and I’m 17 years old. I’ve been at Silhouette for almost two years now, and in that short time I’ve found a home where talent is nurtured, and all are accepted. I’m currently participating in advanced dance, group singing and musical theatre, and through these I’ve gained valuable experiences I’ll take with me for a long time. To me, Silhouette has been a place to gain companionship and grow alongside friends who all strive for the same thing. It’s a place that makes you feel welcomed, a feeling that I want to carry forward as a part of the leadership team. Through this year in the leadership program, I want to aid those around me and be able to give back and support my peers. This is in addition to me wanting to further my knowledge of technological and managerial skills. If I am able to leave Silhouette this year feeling I have gained new experiences and have been a service to my community then my stint as a member of the leadership team would have been a success.

My name is Becky, I am 14 years old, and I have been a member of Silhouette for 3 years. I am a member of the leadership team as well as a performer at Silhouette. For me, Silhouette is a place where I can grow as both an actor and a person, and somewhere I feel happy and respected. This year on the leadership team, I would like to increase our activity and outreach on our social media platforms to reach more young people with a similar ethos to us and continue to help and support others both within Silhouette and the wider community!

My name is Carys, I am 16 years old, and I have been a member of Silhouette for a total of 4 years. I am a performer and also a member of the leadership team in the costume department. I would say that, for me, Silhouette is a place where I can be myself and do what I enjoy with no judgment and feel completely comfortable. This year on the leadership team, I hope to improve my skills in not only acting but also in costume.

My name is Chloe and I am 15 years old. I have been at Silhouette for 5 years now and I am an actor and a member of the leadership team. Silhouette means a lot to me, as it has helped me develop an amazing skill set, such as working on lighting with the RSC, improving my acting and gaining more confidence. This year with the leadership team I would love to further improve my lighting skills and hopefully work on more advanced techniques with lighting to elevate performances. I would also love to work with a wider range of people both from Silhouette and outside companies!

My name is Dan Adams, I am 16 years old and I am a member of the Leadership Team at Silhouette. This is my 7th year as a member of Silhouette and this year I am leading the Front of House Department alongside Finn. My role involves the design and organisation of programs, welcoming and seating audiences as well as prepping them on the safety protocols of the venue. I hope to further the good work Silhouette has been doing since its inception and contribute to the smooth running of each production this academic year.

My name is Emily, I am 14 years old and I have been a part of Silhouette Youth Theatre for 5 years. I attend dance, drama, Shakespeare and Musical Theatre sessions. This year I will be co-leading the stage management and set design department. My goal for the leadership team is to raise the standard of our performances by helping backstage. However, most importantly, I want to make sure all our young people’s voices are being heard so that Silhouette is a fun, creative space for everyone.  

My name is Esmay Francis, I am 13 and a member of the leadership team at Silhouette. I perform and attend many sessions. I’ve been at Silhouette for 2 years and one thing that I love about it is that it’s a place where you can be 100% yourself and also allowed to grow and learn. As a member of the leadership team, as part of the costume department, I aspire to be organised and continue Silhouette’s ethos of making the arts “affordable and accessible for all”. I am excited for the upcoming year!

My name is Finley, I am 16 and I have been a part of Silhouette for 5 years now attending a myriad of sessions. It has helped me grow my confidence and abilities in theatre. Whilst on the leadership team, I hope to better the front-of-house quality that Silhouette gives to its audiences

My name is Ihsan, I am 18 years old and a member of the leadership team, my role this year is in the marketing department. This entails running the social media pages and taking production photos of the shows and rehearsal rooms. I have been at Sillouet for 9 Years and it has given me to so many opportunities such as performing the role of Mamillias in A Winter’s Tale with the RSC which was broadcast on BBC 4, and being a member of The National Youth Theatre (NYT). This year on the marking team, I hope to gain a larger following on TikTok and Instagram, promote all productions and shows to the Northampton community and hopefully inspire more people to join in the arts.

My name is Jaxon Halliwell. I am 17 and part of the Silhouette leadership team. I have been at Silhouette for 2 years now, where I dance, sing, act and help out with sessions. I also help out connecting events with other theatre companies. Silhouette means a lot to me as it has helped me not just with performance skills but also life skills, such as confidence and teamwork. As a member of the leadership team in the marketing department, I want to make sure Silhouette can grow in popularity, having more people finding out about us and what we do, and wanting to become members.

My name is Lily and I am 15 years old and a member of the Leadership Team at Silhouette Youth Theatre. I have been at Silhouette for 5 years, doing a multitude of activities like acting, dancing, singing and more. I’ve had the privilege of going to the Royal Shakespeare Company on multiple occasions for different outreach occasions; notably Backstage Pass. Silhouette has been integral in my life for the past five years because it’s given me some of my best friends, an amazing community and plenty of skills that I will take with me throughout my life. Being on the Leadership team, I will continue to work on costumes, which I love doing, and hope to make sustainable, accessible costumes for every production that we do. I also hope to learn many new skills revolving around running a production!

My name is Maximilian Kufuor, and I am 12 years old. I have been at Silhouette Youth Theatre for about 3 years, and I am currently a part of the Leadership Team, Songwriting, Musical Theatre, Singing, Shakespeare and Drama. I am doing all of these as Silhouette provides many opportunities for me. To me, Silhouette is my second home, and I place where I can learn, trust and have fun. I hope to learn good things from the leadership team and learn how to direct and develop for the future. I thank Silhouette so much for this incredible opportunity.

My name is Micheal Curran, I am 15 years old and I am a new member of the Silhouette Leadership Team. I am primarily a performer at Silhouette and have been here for almost 2 years. I am part of the Sound Department of the Leadership Team and I hope that I can help those around me and get them to love Silhouette as much as I do.

My name is Oliver Laing, I am 16 years old and I am a part of the Silhouette Youth Theatre Leadership Team. I have been a member of Silhouette for 6 years now and I have taken part in many performances and have attended Drama and Musical Theatre sessions. Silhouette has been an integral part of my life and has helped me progress as a performer and make lifelong friends! This year I wish to help my peers and practitioners by assisting in making the performances run smoothly to ensure everyone enjoys watching and performing, as I believe it is vital for young people to enjoy performing, as this develops confidence and a passion for the arts. 

My name is Zuzia, I am 16 years old and I’ve been at Silhouette since April 2022. Silhouette means a lot to me as I have met a lot of my closest friends and I am much more confident in myself and my ability to perform because of Silhouette. Also, I feel like Silhouette is my group of people and that I belong. Being on the leadership team this year, I hope to keep positive and have a positive and open attitude towards the team and I will commit to the team this year.
