Overview  

  • We offer 3 pure drama sessions a week, with young people of all ages up to 18 years old. 
  • We run Shakespeare sessions on a Wednesday and modern scripts on a Thursday.  

Shakespeare – Wednesdays 6-8pm 

  • Our Shakespeare sessions run on a Wednesday in our Church space from 6pm-8pm. 
  • In this session, we focus on classical texts from Shakespeare, this is open to all ages and we’re currently working on a production of Macbeth. 
  • In the past, we’ve done productions of Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s dream and have taken part in the Royal Shakespeare Companies first encounters productions where professional actors from the RSC tour a production around the country and they visited Silhouette, performing alongside some of our actors to the community and local schools. 
  • Most recently, we’ve just finished a production of The Tempest which was performed on the main outdoor stage in the Royal Shakespeare Company. We had two casts of young people to ensure everyone had a chance to perform on the stage and it was performed by people aged 11 to 18 years old. 

Modern Drama – Thursdays 4:30-6pm and 6-8pm 

  • This session is split into two.  
  • 4:30-6pm is our younger drama group years 8 and below. 
  • 6pm-8pm is our teen drama group years 9 and above.  
  • Both casts do performances by modern writers. We split the session in two so each group can focus on productions more suited to their age category.  
  • Our younger drama group have done performances such as ‘scary play’, a production produced by the National Theatre. Pixar, which was a production made up of various scenes from different Pixar movies, and many more. This year, our younger drama group are doing a play in the National Youth Theatre Connections program whereby every year, 10 plays are written and performed in a festival in the Spring with theatre partners nationally, Silhouettes younger drama group are partaking in this and will be performing a play on the Royal & Derngate stage in March 2025 
  • Our teen drama group have done many performances such as ‘The Breakfast Club’, the Body (Stand by Me) written by Stephen King, Lord of the flies, and many more. This year, the teen group are doing a performance of ‘Education, Education, Education’ written by the Wardrobe Ensemble. There’re 4 casts and it will be performed in Spring 2025.
