Overview
- We offer 3 Musical Theatre sessions a week, with young people of all ages up to 18 years old.
- All sessions are run on a Saturday by singing, dancing and drama practitioners.
- Some sessions are run in our church space, and some are run in our EE space next to the works.
Musical Theatre (1) – 9:30 – 10:30am
- The first session is for our primary group for all young people in primary school.
- We teach musical theatre numbers from a variety of musicals and films, examples being Matilda, Mary Poppins, the Jungle Book and many more.
- This year, the 1st Musical Theater group are working on a showcase of different numbers from Disney movies and other musicals.
- In the past, this group have done a shorter version of Matilda the Musical composed of a few scenes, dances and songs put together in a 45-minute showcase.
Musical Theatre (2) – 10:30am – 12:00pm
- The second session is for our middle group for all young people ages roughly 10-14.
- This group comes together and puts on a musical performance once a year, the most recent production is Oliver the Musical being performed in late November 2024.
- Due to the high volumes of young people in this session, we’ve split the group into two with one working on their current production of Oliver and new starters working on scenes from Lion King.
- In the past, this group have done productions such as the Jungle Book, Matilda and many more.
Teen Musical Theatre – 12:30-3pm
- This session is for the older side of our members in year 9 and above. This group work on harder and more challenging productions which require equal amounts of singing, dancing and acting.
- This group put on full musical productions once a year, in the past they’ve done productions of Rocky Horror Picture Show, Mean Girls, Jesus Christ Superstar and many more.
